November 17 Every Time I Tell God about my Opinions…

Affirmation: I enjoy being Creative

Ponder, Personalize, Practice: Day 3 of practicing Matthew 6:33-34. Create a plan to build the habit of seeking God and His righteousness, reminding yourself He will meet all your needs and there is no need to worry about tomorrow. I have added these two verses to my daily calendar and have added “Seek God. Don’t worry.” to my list of daily habits.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”Matthew 6:33-34 NIV

4. Hang up your sign somewhere you will see it every day (e.g., the kitchen, the car, the bathroom mirror) and leave it up for the duration of the eCourse.

5. Now, open up your journal to the very last page to create your "author photo" your self-portrait.

6. Use only crayons to create your self-portrait. Don't get hung up on it being perfect, only on it being authentic to you.

7. On the opposite page of your crayon "author photo," create an "About the Author" page. Write down three things you believe in.

Mastering the 7 Decisions from Andy Andrews

The Certain Decision

I have a decided heart.
It’s not about what it IS…
It’s about what it can BECOME!

“What you decide in your heart will be done and the light of God will shine on your ways.” Job 22:28
The Certain Decision for personal success is what fuels your actions from the active decision. The clarity of vision you maintain in your mind is directly proportional to the effectiveness of your actions. A decided heart is unwavering in the face of continual challenges and setbacks and that ensures victory and a lifetime of greater fulfillment.

HOPE, DREAMS, ANTICIPATION…DECIDE.

Every Time I Tell God About My Opinions, He Asks About My Heart
“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields it’s fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1:3
When we have friends up to the lodge in Canada, sometimes everyone recognizes someone as an artist, or a mystic, or a poet. They are thoughtful and quiet. They listen and rub their chins a lot. Because I wake up waving my arms, I am thankful for the contrast that is apparent when we have an artist – mystic – poet with us. We will do these devotionals overlooking the inlet, and I will ask this person to read a poem or passage of the Bible. When they do it, it feels more meaningful and engaging. They make us all feel at ease and drawn into deeper waters. I have no idea how, but I’m grateful.

Because of people like this, I decided to spend some time in the psalms. David was a poet, and he kept it incredibly real about his hopes, fears, doubts, and questions. The Psalms say things we are often too afraid to say out loud or too busy to notice. The Psalms give us a vocabulary for sharing the secret thoughts and teach us what hope looks like when we’re having trouble finding it.

I think God gave us the psalms to remind us our hearts matter. In a world, where ideas, doctrine, busyness, and success get so much recognition, we forgo an “inner life” and in doing so, we neglect our emotions. God wants a relationship with us. And relationships involve an emotional connection.

If your life is feeling wrung out, and a little empty, turn to a poet or musician, who has tuned into the deeper things. Open up the psalms. They can help us feel our way back to God.

How can you nurture your inner life today?
