Wholehearted Guidepost from Brené Brown
Guidepost 5: Cultivating Intuition and Trusting Faith, Letting Go of the Need for Certainty

All humans have a craving for certainty and control.
But there’s only so much you ever can control in life. There’s a limit to the level of certainty you can experience. (Especially if you’re creating something new or meaningful.)
Which is why intuition and faith are so helpful. They’re powerful tools for navigating uncertain environments.
Intuition might seem a nebulous word. But it’s actually quite simple. Intuition is a cognitive process where your mind compares the situation you’re in with all the others you’ve ever experienced. This happens at a subconscious level, which is why it’s difficult to explain your intuitions and hunches.
As Brown says, “Intuition is not a single way of knowing…it’s our ability to hold space for uncertainty and our willingness to trust the many ways we have developed knowledge and insight, including instinct, experience, faith, and reason.”
So if you want to get great at navigating uncertainty, cultivating your intuition and faith is essential.

Mastering the 7 Decisions from Andy Andrews

The Guided Decision
I will seek wisdom

Sometimes the questions are complicated, but the answers are simple.

Knowing that wisdom waits to be gathered, I will actively search her out. My past can never be changed, but I can change the future by changing my actions today. I will change my actions today! I will train my eyes and ears to read and listen to books and recordings that bring about positive changes in my personal relationships and a greater understanding of my fellow man. No longer will I bombard my mind with materials that feed my doubts and fears. I will read and lis- ten only to that which increases my belief in myself and my future.
I will seek wisdom. I will choose my friends with care. I am who my friends are. I speak their language, and I wear their clothes. I share their opinions and their habits. From this moment forward, I will choose to associate with people whose lives and lifestyles I admire. If I associate with chickens, I will learn to scratch at the ground and squabble over crumbs. If I associate with eagles, I will learn to soar great heights. I am an eagle. It is my destiny to fly.

Ask and it will be given to you, Seek and you will find, Knock and the door will be opened to you. Matt 7:7
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on your understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will guide your steps. Prov. 3:5,6

WHERE WE SEE HOLES WE'VE DUG, GOD SEES FOUNDATIONS HE'S MAKING.

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

PROVERBS 28:13

Up in British Columbia, I like to dig holes in the ground for different projects. There are excavators and tractors and drilling rigs, and I like to put them all to good use. It's a paradise for a guy who likes to make things happen. I built a chapel and a barn, and we blazed some new trails to the mountaintops. We built a bridge to cross a ravine I couldn't quite jump.

More than anything, though, I enjoy the surprised look on Sweet Maria's face when she finds out what I've been up to with all the diggers, tractors, and dynamite, For my latest project, I got a little wild with the dynamite, blew a big hole in the ground, and filled it with water. Once the new lake was done, I took Maria to have a look. I wanted to give her the naming rights. When we were getting close, I asked her, "So, what are we going to name the lake I'm taking you to?" She answered, "What lake?!" Now we have a lake named What Lake. That'll be fun to explain to the grandkids.

God does that with all the holes we make in our lives. We think we've blown it again, but He points to them and says, "This'll make a great spot to pour out My love." Sometimes He makes lakes for us to dive in and other times He makes foundations for building our character on. No matter what, God finds us in the holes we've dug for ourselves. Where we see our failures, God sees foundations He's making.

What hole do you have in your life that God can use to build deeper character in you?
