January 1: Named

Happy New Year. 2024!

As this new year begins, I am making a few changes to the blog.
1. Please let me know if you want to continue receiving the texts.
2. The Daily Affirmation will continue. There are 31 daily affirmations that respect each month. If you see something good please share it with me.
3. Eugene Peterson is our writer sharing his thoughts each day: Praying The Message of Jesus: A Year of thoughts and Prayers.
4. A note from me once in awhile.
If you have feedback please share it with me. I have enjoyed my daily connection with you.

Affirmation: I am kind to myself and allow myself to slow down and enjoy life.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” Psalm 143:8 NIV
Let’s ponder this verse for the next 7 days. Memorize it today and repeat it over at least 5 times.

Praying the Message of Jesus: A Year of thoughts and Prayers Through the Gospels. By Eugene Peterson

JANUARY 1
Family Tree

The family tree of Jesus Christ, David’s son, Abraham’s son. MATTHEW 1:1

Three names mark key points in God’s salvation work: Abraham, father of the faithful; David, the man after God’s own heart; Jesus, the Son of God, who summed up Abraham and David and revealed all that God is for us.

Why are ancestors important?

You come, Jesus, out of a history thick with names. Names—not dates, not events—signal the junctures in which you single out me and others for personal love and responsibility. Named, I now name your name in trust and gratefulness: Jesus. Amen.

From Jacque:
As the new year begins, I journal and create thinking maps of what I want to accomplish in 2024. It is currently a work in progress…I am focusing on habits I want to build.
Here are 3 habits:
-Daily reading and journaling
-Walking and Yoga at least 3 times a week
-Resetting the room (putting things in place and leaving the space ready for anyone to use it.)

-And one more: Pondering on one verse each week. “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” Psalm 143:8
