February 6: Get Back On Track So You Can Love Everybody Always

Affirmation: I am strong and confident. I will seek wisdom.

“indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge andunderstanding.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬
~~~~~~~Ponder, Personalize: Today read these verses as a prayer…for yourself or for someone else. Ponder the highlighted sentence. What do you need need from God today?
”I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your (my) foot slip— he who watches over you (me) will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you (me)— the Lord is your (my) shade at your (my) right hand; the sun will not harm you (me) by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you (me) from all harm— he will watch over your (my) life; the Lord will watch over your (my) coming and going both now and forevermore.“
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭1‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Get Back On Track So You Can Love Everybody Always
Whoever conceals their sin does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Proverbs 28:13.
Depending on your faith tradition, there are different parts of the year you might use as times of self-evaluation and spiritual preparation. One way to do this is to look at what’s working and not working in your life.
Ask yourself, How is my life working for the people around me? If your life isn’t working for the people around you, I’ve got a newsflash for you: it isn’t working for you either. For example, you might have a career that takes you everywhere but home. Maybe it’s working great for you because you get to be in many places, receive loads of affirmation, and have the money to pay the bills, but if you ask, the people you live with, “Is this working for you?” you might be surprised by the answer. It is an honorable thing to provide for your family, but ask yourself if you are providing them with what they actually need, which is you.
Don’t be put off by discovering there our areas in your life that would benefit from a tuneup. If you try to conceal those areas, you’ll not only be hiding from others, but also hiding from yourself. And you will miss out on a great chance to experience the clarity that comes when you are honest about where you are. At the same time, doing this exercise doesn’t need to evolve into an existential crisis. Keep yourself focused and develop a plan. We need to see things clearly in our lives so we can begin to understand them and bring them to Jesus.
Is there something you need to confront? Is there something you need to confess? Maybe finances have been hard, or relationships, or perhaps it is your day job. Name it, take a close look at it, and bring it to Jesus. And remember that you’re bringing it to Jesus not only to confess but to find safety. You’re seeking His help and developing a plan to get back on track.
Remember, your goal is to be
ready and equipped to
love everybody always.
And that includes you.
