Ponder and Personalize: 

The book of Joshua was written after Moses died and Joshua is left to lead the Israelites into the promised land. God has freed them from slavery in Egypt. 

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night,…” What significance does the Book of Law have? Why was it important to meditate on it day and night? Talk to God about this directive and how it might impact you.

Joshua 1:8-9

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Keep Showing Up; You’re The Only You There Is

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6–7.
I went golfing, not long ago for the first time in a couple of decades, and I saw some golfers in front of us breaking their clubs in half because they ended up needing to take a swing or two more than they were hoping for. I guess a lot of people fear mediocrity. They think of mediocrity as being small and insignificant and getting a participation ribbon as an embarrassment rather than an acknowledgment. But what if we came up with a new perspective and set of metrics for what a win looks like? What if we flipped the script and understood that God is not keeping score the way we might be tempted to, but he delights in our attempts? Run up to someone today who is trying something new and say to them, ”Wow look at you! You participated and had the guts and the grit to show up. Way to go!”

For some, this is how they interact with people every day, yet when it comes to themselves, they can’t seem to access the same affirmations. but Jesus doesn’t grade our lives on a curve. He doesn’t compare you to Einstein, or some famous movie star, or country singer, or Mother Teresa. Instead, God delights in you for your You-ness. I know that’s not a word, but it ought to be.

All your giftedness and your peccadilloes, your insecurities and joys – – – keep bringing them to the world every day. Own them and wear them with confidence and humility. Acknowledge right now that God is over the moon about you. Give yourself a high five for trying something new, making the call, initiating the conversation, spinning the wheel. Your early steps and attempts may not seem like very much in the world’s eyes, but every time we shrug our shoulders at what God is doing in and through us, we turn the the wine back into water.

God has created something significant in your life. Have a little patience with yourself as he continues to unfold it so you can release it into the world.
