Love Has Already Paid The Bill
A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servants at supper time to say to those who are invited, “Come, for all things are now ready.” Luke one 4:16–17N KJV.
Someone took me to a fancy restaurant, you know, the kind where they put the napkins in your lap and call you, Monsieur and Madame. After an appropriately long wait so we would know they were in no hurry, the waiter brought leather bound menus to our table, and I opened mine to a long list of fancy entrées. This place had everything: surf, turf, the works. I knew it must be nice, because I couldn’t make out from the over-the- top descriptions what any of the items were. “Carefully and meticulously tossed Shina soba, lavished with Camembert topping.” Did that mean mac & cheese? 
The most concerning part was that there was no price next to any of the entrées. I guess this was one of those places where, if you needed to ask what it cost, you were at the wrong place. Can you imagine if I had opened the leather band menu at the fancy restaurant to see it full of dishes, like pancakes and waffles, Cap’N crunch, cereal, and a quart of milk? It would’ve been my dream ending for the story, but perhaps not what my host intended for me.

Jesus invites us to a banquet. On the menu, aren’t just things we want, but the things He wants for us. He has already covered the costs, because even if we were the richest person in the room, except Him, we wouldn’t be able to pay even a small portion of the bill for our lives. We can go to the table He has set for us and order off the kids’ menu or bring our own bag lunch, or we can bring our appetite and choose something more special that Jesus has prepared for us. The entrée He has for us is a life packed with meaning, laden with opportunity, and steeped in love.

Here’s my question: are you settling for crumbs when God has something much bigger for you? God wants to fill you with more than you could imagine for longer than you could hope for.

Start looking through God‘s eyes at what He’s setting in front of you and accept His invitation today.
